Where exactly are we going?

We will be traveling to Zambia from various locations in Canada- Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. Landing in Lusaka, we’ll then travel on to Katete, located about 40km NE of the capital.

Zambia shares boundaries with eight countries: Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Angloa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.

Habitat first opened it’s doors in Zambia in 1984, and since then has build more than 1,700 houses in the country.

Katie hits celebrity status in Yellowknife

Katie was recently interviewed by the Yellowknifer (Yellowknife, NWT main newspaper) to talk about the Sisterhood of the Traveling Hammers and the sister’s upcoming Habitat for Humanity volunteer adventure in Zambia.  As you can imagine, there are tons of stories to cover in Yellowknife so this is a huge honor (ok….slight sarcasm there ;-).  But, in all seriousness, congrats to Katie!!

You can contribute to Katie’s fund raising efforts by visiting her donation page on her personal Habitat for Humanity web page https://www.habitat.org/cd/gv/participant/participant.aspx?pid=93317263

You can learn more about Katie and find out how you can purchase raffle tickets for the painting shown in this article by visiting Katie’s page.
