It was amazing. So many generous yogis showed up to support us.
We raised $1,000 USD and everyone left relaxed and uplifted.
Prior to building the houses in 2015, we organized a Yoga Fundraiser to raise funds for the local Habitat affiliate and to raise awareness about the work that Habitat for Humanity Zambia was doing in the community. It was an all-day event, yoga in the morning, an info session presented by Habitat, a vegetarian lunch, yoga in the afternoon and then a fun raffle with many prizes. It was amazing, so many generous yogis showed up to support us.  We raised $1,000 USD and everyone left relaxed and uplifted.
Behind the scenes, there were many people who worked very hard to make this all possible. Our core team Rick (brother-in-law) and the 3 sisters, Louisa, Peggy, and Kathryn. Rick was our man of all trades, driving, picking up supplies, set up, tear down, and always being there just when you needed him. Louisa was the number one and only chief cook who worked endless hours to prepare the absolutely scrumptious meals that was so nicely presented and enjoyed by everyone. Peggy who tirelessly handmade beautiful decorations, gift bags, and table settings. Kathryn who prepared the yoga sessions and taught the classes, and all the team collectively for the prepping of the million and one logistical things-to-do from start to finish. The Wayside B&B for generously providing the space as well as supporting us to make sure everything was just right, and Cheba Chakulya, Event Planner who took care of the tickets, calling, arranging and bringing all those yogis to us!  The generous businesses who donated prizes, Sanctuary Lodges, Lululemon, Foodlovers, Leila Stuart Yoga Therapy. And Habitat for Humanity Zambia for participating and telling us about their work in the community.
One of the participants shared a very heartfelt thank you to us that we would love to share.
